Just returned from a fabulous weekend at Esalen! Dancing, singing, rhythm making all weekend long. We were locked in from all sides because of the road closure to the north and the south. What a wonderful place to be (somewhat) trapped. The live music was such a treat!!!
Combining Body of Sound and Yum movement Sessions, this workshop offers the best of both! Dance your heart open to world-class LIVE music, rendering new expressions of rhythm, voice, & movement. Body of Sound invites you to discover your body as the most essential instrument, exploring both structure and improvisation to create a musical tapestry that draws from body percussion, contact improvisation, vocal and rhythmic exercises, circle song, and Balinese Kecak.
Yum sessions are inspired by the teachings of Vinn Martí and Gabrielle Roth, and contact improvisation. These ecstatic movement sessions use live, improvised, multi-genre music as the bridge between deep trusting and spontaneous connection with others in a safe, nonjudgmental space. Dance and be danced by the collective energy exchange as we connect through breath, movement, and music. Let the energy rise in the ultimate celebration of the life force moving through all of us! No experience is required, all are welcome.

Still riding the amazing energy of the International Body Music Festival that was recently held in Sao Paulo, Brazil. The wide array of talented artists from around the world blew the roof off each venue with claps, snaps, pops, steps, stomps, slides, brushes, clicks, oohs, ahhs, vocal magic and beats beyond belief!!!
Originally founded in the Bay Area in 2008 by Keith Terry (Crosspulse.com), this years festival was put together by Fernando Barba (Barbatuques) of Sao Paulo and a team of amazing staff and volunteers. It was incredible to be a part of such live creative energy. I had the pleasure of performing and teaching workshops with our newly formed group BASE (Bay Area Sonic Ensemble) with the very talented Sam Rogers, Derek Wright, Aharon Wheels-Bolsta and myself.
Next year’s festival will be held in the Bay Area again. It is truly an event not to be missed!

We are buzzing from our awesome workshops and performances at Burning Man. Please join us this Sunday in Oakland to keep the energy alive for a journey into the rhythmic realms. After many requests for another local BODY OF SOUND workshop, I will be joining forces with the Gamelan X crew as we host our monthly Kecak workshop, where I will be leading a BODY OF SOUND warm-up and continuing into a full Kecak workshop.
